Luxury and eco-sustainable fashion, inspired by traditions, for our modern world

Colombian born artist and ballet dancer Fernando Montano spent more than 13 years performing with the Royal Ballet while nurturing new creative outlets and decided to pursue a lifelong ambition and develop his own brand of high fashion and jewellery. Montano had connected with Leslie Palacios, a Peruvian sustainable fashion consultant, while performing in Peru in 2018. Together, they took Montano’s drawings and many online meetings later proudly brought CACHUA, a new high fashion and jewellery brand for men and women to life.

The mission of Cachua: innovative, exclusive, natural textiles, precious metals and exquisite handwork

Passionate about bringing luxury fashion to the market in a sustainable way, CACHUA creates for modern requirements by reviving ancient traditions and with high-end, refined craftsmanship. The collection uses natural textiles such as alpaca with its exquisite traditional ‘Alpaqueras’ handwork from a small Andean community in Arequipa, Peru. CACHUA uses natural pearls. Gold and silver for its jewellery comes from traditional artisanal mining methods from the indigenous community of Mompox, Colombia.

We strive to build, together, the world of tomorrow with inspiration and lead the path to a chic and more respectful future

We live in a fast-changing world facing difficult challenges such as climate change, divisions between people, and responsible usage of resources. As CACHUA, we see ourselves as proactive and optimistic, building today the world of tomorrow with a view towards glamour, inspiration, sustainability, and greater respect for people and the environment. By bringing high-end refined craftsmanship from the Andes to the world. We want to prove that luxurious fashion can be created in a sustainable way, in a mutually beneficial ecosystem.

Stunning gold and pearl art works, another “Cachua”. The concept of this collection comes from the concentric circles of Mother Earth

The jewellery collection is co-designed by Montano and Bogota based jeweller and designer Mario Reina, featuring stunning gold and pearl designs. Cachua means ‘round dance’ in Quechua, the language of the Inca Civilisation that was set in what is now Peru and other South American countries. Montano says, “As I started to recover from my injury I was taking long walks around Hyde Park. I realised I was always instinctively moving in large circles and the concept of this collection comes from the concentric circles of Mother Earth. In 2020 we found ourselves walking in different circular scenarios in every city on the planet; the parks, our buildings and our homes were the only spaces where we were allowed to be due to worldwide pandemic lockdowns. We were all doing our own Cachua dance around the world.”
